Himalayan Red-Gold Azeztulite (23g-258-6)

After receiving multiple shipments of Himalayan Golden and Red-Gold Azeztulite, and with experience accumulated over a certain number of pieces, I noticed that most of the stones shipped to me as “Himalayan Golden” also contained small traces of red or reddish-brown. I initially thought the U.S. distributor classified them by the amount of red coloration present, since just a slight orange-red tint might not seem enough to define the Red-Gold variety. However, last month I received a batch of Red-Gold that had no red or orange hues at all (as shown in the two circled pieces below). After discussing with the U.S. distributor, I confirmed that their classification is based on the parent rock. Because Himalayan Golden and Red-Gold Azeztulite are broken off from larger host rocks, as long as the main body of the rock has orange-red characteristics, all the crystals taken from it will be classified as Red-Gold—even if certain portions of that rock contain no red coloration.

This method of classification may result in us receiving stones with no orange-red hue that are still labeled as Red-Gold. Before discussing whether such classification is appropriate, let’s first consider: what exactly is the orange-red part? Based on the Himalayan “Red-Gold” pieces I’ve received in the past, the so-called red or orange-red tones vary—some areas are bright red, while others are deep reddish-brown. Altogether, the color range spans from light red and vivid red to reddish-brown, even reaching shades so dark they resemble brown.

Returning to the official classification, I find it not entirely suitable. After all, a crystal usually develops different colors and energetic qualities because of its associated minerals. If a piece broken off contains none of those inclusions, does it still carry that same energetic signature? I feel that while there may still be some influence, its energy is more likely aligned with the state of having no associated minerals—in other words, leaning more toward the qualities of Himalayan Golden Azeztulite.

However, I can understand that the distributors must choose one approach to classification. For example, some stones labeled as Himalayan Golden may show no orange-red tones on the surface, yet when cut or polished, such hues may appear—so classification can never be absolute. Furthermore, the energies of Himalayan Golden and Red-Gold are not strictly either/or. As mentioned above, Himalayan Golden may sometimes contain slight orange-red or brown tones, which to some extent carry Red-Gold qualities. Likewise, Himalayan Red-Gold, depending on its coloration, may hold varying degrees of Golden’s qualities. In fact, books describing Himalayan Golden also mention that Red-Gold shares in Golden’s energy, since their base and essence are essentially the same—Himalayan Golden. It is only due to the presence of associated minerals that the Red-Gold variety was extended as a distinct classification by the distributors.

Most importantly, at Moospace we prioritize offering Himalayan Red-Gold Azeztulite pieces that clearly display red or orange-red tones (ranging from light red and vivid red to reddish-brown, and even deep shades close to brown).
